New Release Snap Judgements 3/24/2008

This week is probably the week to look more at the portable consoles rather than their home counterparts. That is, unless you really, REALLY like some near-future boomerang o’ death action.

Dark Sector (Xbox 360, PS3)

Another game which uses the Gears of War cover system except with the added novelty of a big, razor sharp boomerang available as your primary weapon. If you’re absolutely bored then maybe but save your money.

Viking: Battle for Asgard (Xbox 360, PS3)

Hahaha. Come on. This is Conan except more realistic and without the license. Pass on this one.

Universe at War: Earth Assault (Xbox 360)

This is another PC to console RTS port. As always, there is the chance it could be good but it probably won’t be as good as it’s PC counterpart.

Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core (PSP)

Yet another Final Fantasy spin-off. If you’re done with God of War and Patapon and into the Final Fantasy series then this may be a buy. If not, pass.

Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword (DS) - Pick of the Wee

An actual real game for the DS, which plays like a real game and controls well using the stylus almost exclusively. If it’s been a while since your last DS purchase this may be the one to get you back into the Nintendo handheld.

What are you picking up this week?
