Feels good to be back. Now who wants to watch a movie?

The spectacular (that is what I’m praying for at least) Metal Gear Solid 4 is near, but something new has just surfaced. Break out the popcorn cause this game could possibly have ninety minute cut-scenes.

From 1up.com by: Steve Watts (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3167942)

Hideo Kojima, the mind behind curtain of the Metal Gear series, has been well-documented as a prolific storyteller — some would say a little too prolific. Previous Metal Gear Solid installments featured 30- or 45-minute cutscenes, but a new rumor claims that even those will be put to shame with Metal Gear Solid 4.

Europe’s PSW (via CVG) asserts that the new title has cutscenes stretching as long as 90 minutes. What’s more, the story speculates that there may be even more than one cutscene of this length. Story sequences can be paused or skipped in this latest stealth action outing, but lovers of Snake’s legacy would find it hard to rob themselves such large plot chunks.

For now, we’re classifying this as rumor. Kojima likes to tell stories, but twice the length of any previous cutscenes from the series seems excessive even for him. It’s possible that the 90-minute count is combining non-interactive cutscenes with narrative gameplay elements. Either way, we’ll all be able to find out when MGS4 hits next month. In the meantime, it couldn’t hurt to have a bowl of popcorn standing by… just in case.

Personally I love story telling in video games. Resident Evil and Metal Gear Solid are some of the best story telling games out there. See a story telling game is a video game where you can gain a lot of background information and feel for the characters in the game.  Games like this draw me into buying a PS3 even though it may come out for the Xbox 360. None the less though this story could take a while.
