Xbox Live Silver Accounts Now Can Play Online

This article was written by: Steven Artlip (Steve519)

Only in certain games though. It turns out that there are currently 3 games that you can play online on your 360 even if you have a Xbox Live Silver account

  • Shadowrun
  • Universe at War: Earth Assault
  • Lost Planet: Colonies

It turns out that all cross-platform (Xbox 360-Windows) games are now playable for everyone online.  While this is great news for all silver members, as a paying gold member I not really sure why we are getting the shortend of the stick.  Now what do we get for that 50 dollars a year?  If they are getting almost all the same benefits (yes I understand that we get to play all the Xbox 360 online games) for none of the costs, what reasons do we have to drop 50 a year on Xbox Live?

Let me know what you all think.

Thanks forums.xbox.com for the info

UPDATE: from Shacknews.com

For a limited time, we are offering free online multiplayer on Xbox 360/Games for Windows titles that offer LIVE cross platform play,” a representative explained. “This promotion won’t last, so we encourage everyone to take advantage of it while they can.”

The representative concluded that, “When the new Xbox experience launches this fall all multiplayer gaming on Xbox 360 will be for Gold members only.”
