Sony is hoping you steal there new billboards, so you can advertise for them. Sound like a setup its not.
Sony plans to make 1000 mini Little Big Planet signs with working lights and miniature ladders and stick them all over Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York. The plan is the stolen goods end up on eBay and well let the theif and ebay do the advertising for them and with only 1000 signs being put out there people will want to get their hands on one. Let the bidding wars begin.
Is this the new way to advertise or will the guy who gets caught shoplifting say its Sonys fault they let me steal a Little Big Planet sign so I thought this was OK.

This sounds like the ATHF add campaign, hope the cities the things are posted in don't think it's a terrorist attack.
I'm really impressed by the marketing on the PS3 side of things. First, Resistance and it's viral campaigning knocks my socks off and now this. I remember all my advertising professors in college trolling on and on about how people continuously fail to think outside the box and because of that, advertising (think Superbowl commercials) stagnated. I am personally thrilled to see such an effort. Finally the PS3 has some marketing as innovative as the actual system on its side. Bravo Resistance and LittleBigPlanet!
