Fable 2 is a game about a hero who makes choices good or evil that effect your character and the entire world. Fable 2’s main quest takes about 12 hours to complete, but it also offers plenty of side quests, and other fun things to do. Fable 2 does make some references to the original game but it is not necessary that you played it to understand the story.
Fable 2 offers some brilliant graphics. The few cut scenes that are in the game are wonderful. The in game cutscenes leave a little to be desired though. For this style of design the look and feel of the world is great. Just remember that this game was never shooting for super realistic graphics, this isn’t Gears of War, or Metal Gear, this is Fable 2.
The controls in Fable 2 are very simple, and thats not a bad thing. It offers a way to “quickly” switch between magic, guns, and melee attacks, well kind quickly. The problem is the half a second lag between switching that could be the difference between life and death. I also noticed that some objects are very hard to interact with, sometimes I would go up to my bed to sleep and I just couldn’t get it to let me select the bed. This problem occurred throughout the game but not that often. Overall the controls were very smooth and responsive but it does have a few issues that need fixed.
The music score in Fable 2 is amazing. I almost wish it was on my i-Pod. The music transitions well as you move around the world and encounter enemies, and they had superb voice acting. Really as sound goes you couldn’t have asked for anything more.
Fable 2 offers a fairly predictable plot but it also offers plenty of other modes of entertainment. You could easily spend 30 minutes in town messing with the villagers. What is so great is that the game manages to distract you from the main quest, because there is so much other stuff to do that is fun. You could easily be on your way to protect the temple of light and end up sacrificing a monk to the brotherhood of shadows. It is nice to have a game that has enjoyable side quests. Fable 2 does have a few issues one being that it has an enormous number of Stock characters, well pretty much every character but your dog is forgettable. The other problem is that the economy of Fable 2 is broken, because it is way to easy to make money. Overall the Gameplay is superb but it does have some issues like its predictable plot, and the huge pile of stock characters.
Fable 2 is worth every penny and them some. It has an enormus amount of replayability because of the good/evil choices, witch could almost make it like 2 seperate games. Really the game is great and a great game deserves a $60l price tag. I think if you buy this game you will be happy you did.
If you like RPG’s, than Fable 2 is a must buy. This is one of the best games of 2008 and you should at the very least rent it. You will be surprised how fun it is to make all of the moral decisions and just playing the game. I will be the first to admit that this game is not perfect but it doesn’t have to be. This is definatly the best game Lion Head has produced yet.
