After Activision decided to drop several Vivendi Games productions after their merger earlier this year, the Ghostbusters game fell into limbo just weeks before it’s intended release.

Today, it’s been announced that Atari will pick up the anticipated title along with The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena (a remake of Escape from Butcher Bay).

While a release date has not been officially announced, it appears it’ll be early summer of 2009 to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the Ghostbusters movie.

Ghostbusters fans who’ve been disappointed by the delays with an uncertain future now can look forward to their favorite spectre battling team coming to their homes very soon.
