OutRun Online Is Now A Xbox 360 Exclusive



Sumo Digital’s downloadable racer OutRun Online Arcade will now be a Xbox 360 exclusive here in North America, but in Europe it will still come out for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 alike.  No reason was given from Sega of America as to why the shift has taken place.

Some may remember OutRun machines in the arcade with the big sit down cabinet and surround sound, racing around with a Ferrari with a girl riding shotgun.  Now with the new Online Arcade version you will be able to challenge up to 6 friends to race online and will be able to chose from 10 smoking Ferrari’s and of course your girl will still be riding shotgun.  Outrun Online Arcade is due out early 2009.

    You fail to mention that it doesn’t stop you guys over there in the U.S. getting it on the PS3. All you need to do is create a European PSN account (preferably UK as the store’s in english). Why? Because there is next to no region locking on the PS3 (off the top of my head I can only think of 3 types: DVDs and Blu-rays are region locked, the PSN movie store thing is locked to U.S. IP addresses and DLC can only be used on games from a specifc region [so if you import a game, which aren't region locked, you just have to get DLC from the correct PSN store]). Openness for the win!
