New Releases 2/16/2009: The World Warriors Return

Mid-February and we already have a blockbuster week on our hands as a true sequel to an arcade classic and huge DLC for one of the best games of 2008 are released.

Street Fighter IV (Xbox 360, PS3) is the 2D fighter that people have been waiting to get their hands on for years. It is the arcade classic Street Fighter II done in a stunning and distinct art style but remaining on a two dimensional field of battle. The new look and new characters should get current and former Street Fighter fans back into this series.

The folks at Rockstar are revving up a huge franchise as well but we have not had nearly the wait for more fun in Liberty City. It has been about 11 months since Grand Theft Auto IV hit store shelves and now the first DLC pack, The Lost and the Damned (Xbox 360), is coming exclusively to Xbox Live. The pack, which promises 10-20 hours of gameplay, focuses on the biker gang which played a minor role in Niko’s escapades in GTA IV.

Both of these games would seem like easy pickups for those who are fans of the series which they are part of and, especially in the case of Street Fighter IV, may be able to draw in new fans by having just enough new stuff to entice any hold-outs.

Other notable releases this week:

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II (PC)
Noby Noby Boy (PSN)
