Killzone 2, Is It Worth The Hype?

This article was written by: Steven Artlip (Steve519)

As most of you know, Killzone 2 will be coming out later this month. It’s suppose to be one of Sony’s biggest and most anticipated games and the hype for it is soaring, especially after the demo was just released last week. Now I might be alone of this but I’m curious if it merits all the hype it is getting. After seeing it last year at E3 and playing the demo I have to say that I’m unimpressed. I just don’t see how it will push consoles or even be the game that Sony needs right now. From what I experienced it seemed like a mediocre to decent first person shooter, not even up to Call of Duty 4, a game that was released almost a year and a half ago. I didn’t see the graphics that we were promised nor anything levels above what we have has been experiencing already. I felt that the controls were awful, not Resident Evil 5 awful but bad enough to damage the playing experience. And while we didn’t get to experience any online multiplayer I just don’t see it saving the game, Killzone 2 just seemed too slow at times.

Now before you really start to bash me, yes I know the demo is based off of an old version of the game. Yes I know that it is just a demo. Still though, I feel that Killzone 2 will end up being a perfect sequel to the original Killzone which most of you might remember was suppose to be a “Halo Killer” but did not even cause Halo to flinch. I’m expecting Killzone 2 to be nothing more then an overhyped, underperforming game that will cause much disappointment from everyone that purchases it.

So tell me, am I wrong? Or do you think it is worth the hype? I don’t know about you guys but I’m not going to be picking this game on day one because I just don’t have that much faith into the game, I do hope though that I’m proven wrong.
