I swear that last paragraph was supposed to be in English. It's late here. I just wanted to know to a greater extent what you didn't like about the game. Like what about the controls were awful and why the graphics mattered so much to you?

So somebody can say that "you are gay" on a podcast and that's not offensive. I make a joke about you using this as a ploy to get a free game and you get angry?

That's strange to me. One actually is completely false and one is based on truth. You do get free games don't you? I don't care that you do. You've earned those freebies because of the hard work you put in with the building this community, creating contacts within the gaming world, and even with your continued service for country. I've never uttered an ill word about you and always speak highly of you in every of community I frequent. I do call you Rich Franklin a bit much.

My whole point is you say you don't want to buy it on day one but the only reason you gave was because you weren't sold on it yet you didn't say why you were not sold. You gave controls and graphics as your only reasons. I guess I should not have you to embellish.

Pretty much every game in a genre I like that looks interesting, and scores over 90 is a day 1 purchase (or at least rent) for me. I like FPS games, and this looks to be a AAA title.

For me, the graphics are amazing and the game play feels great.

That is why, for me personally, this is a day 1 game (including taking the day off work so I can finish the single player!).

HOWEVER, if the graphic style didn't do it for you, and (more importantly) the game play feels off, it is totally legitimate to decide that it isn't something you need to play right away.

I know that pretty much every hardcore PS3 owner will get around to playing it eventually, and if the game does turn out to be as good in multi-player as the reviews are claiming, we can all look forward to capping Steve's ass in future P*N gaming nights.

I think Killzone 2 is only a day one buy if you want to play it on day one. It is really not going to hurt sony if you buy it on day 1, or day 50 it isn't going to hurt sony any. I am going to pick it up in the first couple of days, because this is basicaly the first BIG fps for the PS3, and I want to see what the PS3 can do, and the game appeals to me. If Steve doesn't want to buy it day one, so what, I'm sure millions of other people will.

And how you ask or even mention this as being a ploy to get a free copy is beyond me, but I take that as a sign of disrespect

You're reading way more out of what I typed then what is actually there. I just don't see why I should pick it up. Lately I play my PS3 way more then any other console but that shouldn't mean I have to buy this game. I've talked to several other PN hosts about this too and I haven't had a single one tell me what about killzone merits a day one buy.

I don't buy my games to save a system from failing, I buy my games based off of merit and gameplay, so once again I ask, is killzone really with a day one buy? And if so, why?

Hey Mr. Maher. I just want to commend you. You are absolutely on point with everything you just said especially concerning review scores...heck...reviews in general. I haven't heard a single bad review yet.

The mere fact that I saw a trailer over two years ago that blew my mind and now I have a demo that's better than what I saw then is reason enough for me to support Sony and Guerilla with a purchase.

For me, this is the third PS3 game that didn't need to ride on hype because the game is just that dang good. Metal Gear Solid 4 and LittleBigPlanet would be the others. Those two games blew my expectations away and firmly give me reason to believe that Sony is all about the quality in this generation.

The lighting, the unique sniping function, the actual clan support, the depth of online gaming, the storyline, and the beauty of this game should serve as more buttress to those considering a purchase.

Okay. I hear your point but I don't understand it.

1) What is it lacking that makes you feel that way?

2) Have you actually listened to any of the podcasts detailing the single player (without spoiling the story.)

3) If you played the Demo, what makes the game not a purchase for you? What made Halo 1 or Gears of War 1 a first day buy for you? Did you need a game to have huge hype before buying it?

I hope lots of things get addressed soon on our podcasts here like this issue. The reason why I care that you're not picking it up day one is because of sales. Every sale counts towards the bigger picture which is a competitive video game market.

I'm not worried about you not purchasing the game. You'll be one of those who buys it later. When...I don't know but you'll buy it. I'm addressing the the true reason for fanboyism and that is SURVIVAL.

For each good PS3 game that PS3 gamers and Xbots fail to buy or disparage, you only make it easier for Microsoft to monopolize gaming the HD Next Generation War. You only make the red ringing Xbox 360 more appealing to third party publishers to develop their product on the 360 and port a crappy version to the PS3. In short, consumers are engendering a "cap" on the quality of future products.

I'm sick of all the anti-PS3 sentiment. I'm sick of all the pro Xbox 360 crap. All I want is a wide variety of gaming and it seems consumers are too concerned with their own individual opinions to think about the big picture.

All this anti-Killzone / PS3 / Sony crap is here because the system and Killzone 2 is the REAL DEAL. If it wasn't, we would not be having this discussion now. I respect everyone's opinions but gamers passing up on titles like Heavenly Sword affect ME in the end. If you don't like it...that's fine. But be clear. Tell us what you hate. Give us the positive criticism. I know you're no shy when it comes to giving your opinion so what's the real story here?

Then again...maybe you're using this as a ploy to get a free copy.

I was really impressed with the graphics (especially the animation and lighting), and after my second time through the demo, the controls totally worked for me.

BUT, the biggest reason that I am excited is because of the reviews. I know that lots of critics can't be trusted. But, in general, Sony sucks at massaging out good review scores from critics (Uncharted is less than 90 on Metacritic!), and 92 (the current Metascore) is nothing to sneeze at.

If you think that reviews can't be trusted, can you point out a single game (in a genre that you like) that is over 90 on Metacritc but is not really good? I can't.
