It’s true, the Wii isn’t the first place you’d expect to find games full of violence, cannibalism inducing viruses, and dark, moody set pieces. Still, some Wii owners may be feeling a little jealous of their Xbox 360 and PS3 owning counterparts due to the recently released Resident Evil 5 which, according to a recent Capcom announcement, shipped 4 million units worldwide at launch making it the biggest launch of any Resident Evil game to date. Add this to the 40 million units that have sold across all of the Resident Evil titles, the $300 million in sales from the three live action Resident Evil movies, and the 1.5 million shipped copies of the CG Resident Evil: Degeneration movie and you can see just how much Resident Evil there is to enjoy. So even though they may not be able to play Resident Evil 5, gamers of the Wii persuasion have nothing to fear, especially since Capcom has announced that it is working on several exclusive Resident Evil titles for the Wii that will be released later this year.

Read on after the jump for more on these Wii exclusive Resident Evil titles and some screenshots.

The first is Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles. A sequel to the popular Wii on-rails shooter, Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, The Darkside Chronicles will have a story based on Resident Evil 2 and will feature several additions to the on-rails gameplay including a new “Evade” system that makes use of the Wii remote. Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles will be release this winter.

At the same time, Capcom also announced it’s plans for the new Resident Evil “Classics” line which will bring the popular Resident Evil and Resident Evil Zero Gamecube titles to the Wii with updated controls for the Wii remote. Both titles have also been set for release this year, though a more specific time has yet to be announced.

So you see, though it may not be getting RE5, the Wii will soon be home to more Resident Evil than you can shake a rotting finger at. The apocalyptic family of the undead has room for everyone! More information of the games is on its way in the coming months, but for now you can check out some screens for Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles below.
