A bid Namco put up for the publisher D3 last month has come to fruition. Namco already owned 70% of D3’s shares and purchased the remaining shares for $628 each for a total of $12.5 million. D3, most known for publishing Puzzle Quest and the Simple Series (and the excellent Earth Defense Force 2017) has a strong presence in Japan and a growing library in America. They now own the rights to publish Ben10 overseas and the Vicious engine.
It seems everyday we are hearing of a buyout or closing and while it may be necessary during these times I wonder how it will affect the game industry in the future.
