After the critical and retail success of Infinity Ward’s “Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare,” fans have been waiting patiently for the game’s successor. Finally, with GDC came the release of the above teaser trailer for the much anticipated Modern Warfare 2. The Call of Duty moniker is interestingly missing from the trailer, but there has been no indication that the game won’t be tied to the blockbuster franchise’s title.
The trailer gives a November 10, 2009 release date for the game and not much more. Though it is light on details the video makes a few things clear. There will be some kind of audio component to the game, which is good because voice acting, music, and sound effects usually seem to round the gaming experience out nicely. Also, the game will include warfare…that is…well…modern.
While you play and replay the trailer in search of the more subtle clues about the game’s direction, the Infinity Ward team will be hard at work preparing the game for its November release.
“Everyone on the team is laser focused on making the most gripping experience we’ve ever created,” says Infinity Ward’s CEO, Vince Zampella. “No detail is too small and every finishing touch imaginable is underway to make Modern Warfare 2 our best ever. We can’t wait for our fans around the world to play starting November 10th.”
