Mathew McConaughey to play Nathan Drake in new Uncharted movie?

Nathan Drake- Uncharted:Drakes Fortune

Nathan Drake- Uncharted:Drake's Fortune

A game like Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, definitely has the probability of becoming a movie. It has a great script, good voice acting and lots and lots of action. So you could see why Hollywood would jump all over this game to make it a movie adaptation. They do everything else.

Well apparently the guys over at out the article here) have a tipster who tipped them off about the person playing the role of Nathan Drake. That person… Mathew McConaughey. Now before everyone starts talking about how bad this would be because of the roles he usually plays, like in the movie How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days, don’t ask why I know this. Think about the role he played in the movie Sahara. He played a treasure hunter, an eager one at that, that would stop at nothing before finding his next clue, ultimately leading him to the treasure. Sound familiar? It should, the two characters resemble each other in a lot of ways.

Uncharted: Drakes fortune is undoubtedly one of the best games for the PS3 console, and with the second on the way there is no doubt that evidence has proved it will be just as good. Point is we all know what happens to most of the movies that take the adaptation from video games. It usually does not turn out good. I’m sure most of us would love to see an Uncharted movie, but on the flip side, it would be terrible to see it fail. This is all here say as well so take it with a grain of salt. If and when more information on the movie and actor(s) in question rises, we’ll be on top of it.

I saw Sahara because I loved Drake’s Fortune so much. I was hoping for a similar flavor. Aside from the similarity you rightly mentioned, they don’t compare. Sahara is dull and character-free. I’ve always said Nathan Fillion, or even the original voice and mo-cap artist Nolan North. He’s a handsome, charismatic bloke and he IS Drake.

i agree with you that Fillion would be good too they look alike plus they share the same first name;).

Aside from that either one of them would be a good fit. I feel
McConaughey is a little more laid back than Nate Drake but he’s an actor and portraying a dif. personality should be no problem, that’s why he gets paid the big bucks so…

Nathan Fillion, hands down. I’ve always felt that Nathan Drake was just Mal Reynolds without a spaceship.

Personally, I’d like to see Joe Flannigan. And I personally doubt this to be fully accurate, but hey…
