New Releases 4/27/2009: Shingy Shing

The first third of the year is just about over with. We have had some really great games early in the year and the slowest month of the four ends with a fun game attached to what will probably be this upcoming weekend’s number 1 film. Should we call him Weapon X or Logan?

X-Men Origins: Wolverine The Game (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PS2, PSP) accompanies the movie of the same title which debuts at theatres this coming Friday but is a very different animal altogether. The movie is PG-13 and will cater to a very wide audience. The game, which was in production before the movie, is a full-on Mature hack and slash. The extreme violence is early and often in this one and is probably not for the same exact crowd as the film. If you want to play as the most famous of the X-Men and shred enemies by the dozen. This is the one for you. If you have kids or are squeamish, you may want to pass.

Other notable releases this week:

Velvet Assassin (Xbox 360, PC)
Puzzle Quest: Galactrix (PSN)
Banjo-Tooie (XBLA)
Virtual On (XBLA)
Burnout Paradise: Cops and Robbers Pack (XBLM, PSN)
