Q-Games Gives Some Details on New PixelJunk Game

By Jason Wadsworth

If the mere mention of PixelJunk sets your gamer heart all aflutter, you’re no doubt anxiously awaiting the next game to share a title with the name made popular by games like PixelJunk Racer, PixelJunk Monsters, and PixelJunk Eden. After some initial video teasers more info has been made available about the new PixelJunk game, currently known only by it’s working name: PixelJunk #4 (or 1-4).

In the game, players will take control of a subterranean exploration vehicle and guide it though cavernous levels with puzzles, obstacles, and survivors to rescue on the way. Water and magma in the caves will either heat or cool the vehicle as it navigates through rock and dodges environmental elements, enemies, and bosses.

As with every PixelJunk title, the game will have it’s own unique minimalist art style and original music. The experience is rounded out by a cadre of fluid dynamics that will stylistically render fluids like the water and magma, which will be part of the environmental puzzles players will encounter. The game will also include online rankings, YouTube uploading capabilities, and Remote Play.

PixelJunk’s unnamed fourth title will be available sometime this summer on the Playstation 3 via the Playstation Network. There is also a contest to name the game currently running that will end on Monday, May 11th.
