Call of Duty 4 Sets a World Record

Last month, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare reached an astounding 13 million players–no small feat. Apparently the gaming community aren’t the only ones who think so.

After more than a year and a half in release, Modern Warfare is being officially recognized for its amazing achievements. During this year’s E3, Guinness World Records officials will present Infinity Ward with the record for Most Played Online Video Game.cod4_xmas_sales

Since first hitting store shelves, CoD4 has garnered nearly universal acclaim. The game’s stunning visuals, involving story, and revolutionary multiplayer have been duly recognized by the millions of players who propelled it to such fame, but its nice to see prestigious folks like those at Guinness are recognizing this outstanding achievement.

The record can be found in the upcoming 2010 Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition, releasing early next year.
