Some fans of Valve’s zombie shooter-fest, Left 4 Dead, haven’t been too happy with the developer since it announced that Left 4 Dead 2 would be coming out later this year. Most of the malice directed at Valve these days is due to fears that the release of a sequel will curtail add-ons and DLC efforts for the original Left 4 Dead. Fortunately, it seems that there is no reason to think that Valve has suddenly abandoned its usual pension for post-release content and support.
During a recent interview with CVG, Doug Lombardi, Valve’s VP of Marketing hinted that Valve would have some announcements this summer concerning what’s coming to the original Left 4 Dead in the future, as well as some new revelations about the sequel. He also assured everyone that “nine months from now once everything’s been out for a while and everyone’s had time to see the complete product of Left 4 Dead 2 and see continued support for Left 4 Dead 1, they may sort of see what we were up to and what the method of our madness was there.”
While we have no idea what announcements Valve will be making, it’s good to know that the future of support for Left 4 Dead looks hopeful.
