by John Catuira Taking a cue from the 3-on-3 NHL Arcade release earlier this year, EA is releasing Madden NFL Arcade on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. Come holiday season, you will be able to trade hockey sticks for pigskin in this 5-on-5 arcade take on EA’s celebrated football franchise.
As the name would imply, Madden NFL Arcade distills traditional game play with first-to-30 wins and a smaller 60 yard field, doing away with pesky details like penalties and field goals. Not ‘arcadey’ enough for you? There are 13 unique “Game Changers” that allow you to do things like freeze the opposing player, turn off their passing icons, or let loose a barrage of linemen on your opponent’s quarterback. To keep things interesting, you can customize every match-up by tweaking options such as skill level and points to win. You and your friends can even suit up for multiplayer with up to four player co-op and 1-on-1 online matches.
Madden NFL Arcade is targeted for December on Xbox Live Arcade for 1200 MS Points and on PlayStation Network for $14.99. See you on the scrimmage line.
