Next up is Bobby Gonzalez the captain of the football/nerd who went on to get his college degree in History who’s vast knowledge of comics is unbelievable even to Stan Lee’s standards.
My name is Bobby Gonzalez and I’m 22 years old. I was born in Chicago and raised in the south suburbs. I am half Puerto Rican, half Cuban and can’t speak an entire sentence in Spanish. In high school I was a big jock and an even bigger nerd. I was the only captain of the football team that knew how to get a golden Chocobo. I was probably the only person who went to state for shot put (that track event where you throw the big metal ball) and who knew how to spike in Super Smash Brothers. I was also in band from elementary school through high school. I played the saxophone (alto, tenor, and baritone). When I started college I stopped doing sports and band in order to focus on my degree. This past May I graduated with a major in History and a minor in Small Business Management.
Right now it is hard to find any job, so I am working part time with my dad as an assistant insurance salesman. I am applying to lots of places just to start making some money. I’m still not sure what I want to do with my life. Options range from one day owning my own comic book store, to becoming a librarian (who knew that librarians had to get a masters degree in library science?!). I currently live with my parents, but soon hope to move into a small apartment with my girlfriend, Kait, of (almost) 4 years.
We are all gamers here but I have another obsession that is perhaps even nerdier… board games! Kait and I started buying them last year and have officially become board gamers. Right now our collection contains Last Night on Earth and its expansions, Memoir 44, Pandemic and its expansion, 1960 The Making of the President, and Arkham Horror. We will be adding to that collection on Christmas day!
I am also a very big comic book nerd. I do not put my comics in sleeves and protect them like children though. My brother, who just left for college, recently called me to find out if Batman was dead and who had killed him. Even with google and wikipedia he knew calling me to find out would be faster.
I have played video games since the NES but, cliché as it is, Final Fantasy VII turned me into a gamer. It was that game that made me realize how great games could be and I have been hooked ever since. I own a PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, DS, a broken PSP, and soon I hope to build my first gaming PC. The only genre I do not play very much is Sports. Everything else I love to play. Check out my gamertag and PSN name to see the games I own and play. I would love to play with all the P*N readers so send me a friend request! My names are…
Xbox 360: steveCArogers (first person to know what that references wins a virtual high five!)
PS3: JefeFinal (first person to say what that means in English wins a virtual low five!)
Thanks Bobby for that look into the depths of your life! Hope the comic store become a reality for you, I always enjoy visiting comic shops and it is ashame because they are becoming a thing of the past.
