Since Pandemic Studios were formed in 1998 they have brought us many great titles such as Star Wars: Battlefront and Mercenaries, they are also behind upcoming game The Saboteur, but rumor has it that in the very near future, EA will be shutting Pandemic down for good, it is, arguably a very sad moment but after the disappointment of Mercenaries 2 some people may think it is about time.
The closure is still unconfirmed but sources say around 200 people are to be laid off and the remaining few to be moved to other EA development teams.
It is said that The Saboteur will be passed over the EA’s Montreal studio, the team behind Army of Two.
I always think it is sad to see such great developers close down, and Pandemic have been behind many of the most fun games I have ever played such as Mercenaries and hell even Mercenaries 2, whilst not being as successful or technically good as its predecessor, was a blast to play. I also had a chance to play The Saboteur at the Eurogamer Expo back in October and I think it will be a great encore if the rumors are true.
