Marvel VS Capcom 2 Fightstick Mistake

Mad Catz released the Marvel VS Capcom 2 Arcade Fightstick Tournament Edition September 10th of this year.  The Tournament Edition was originally advertised as being an individually numbered “Collectors Edition”, but as it turns out neither the package nor the control itself was individually numbered.  So what is Mad Catz going to do?  Well if you still have your receipt and are not happy that the product was not numbered  you can bring it back to the retailer where you bought it and attempt to get your money back.  The reason I say attempt to get your money back is because it is up to the individual retailers return policy if you will get your money back.  So if you bought the product because it was a “Collectors Edition” and are just finding out that it’s not and you don’t have your receipt, well your out of luck.  Here is Mad Catz Press Release in it’s entirety:

On September 10, 2009, Mad Catz® Interactive, Inc. (AMEX/TSX: MCZ), a leading third-party interactive entertainment accessory provider, issued a press release, announcing the release of the Marvel™ VS Capcom® 2 (MvC2) Arcade FightStick: Tournament Edition for the Xbox 360® and PlayStation® 3 videogame systems.

In the press release, Mad Catz mistakenly stated that the product was to be presented in “individually numbered ‘Collector’s Edition’ packaging.” However, neither the packaging nor the individual units are number or serialized.

If a customer has purchased the product due to the numbered packaging and is dissatisfied with the product, the customer may return the product to their place of purchase for a full refund. The customer will need to have original proof of purchase and return the product within the retailers return policy period.
