Our Need for Speed: SHIFT giveaway ended December 2nd, 2009. Readers had some awesome, funny and poignant entries regarding what they were thankful for this year. In order to make it fair, we tossed the eligible entries into a hat and pulled out the winning name.
Congratulations to Dondi W. (aka dwigg)! He’ll be receiving a PS3 copy of Need for Speed: SHIFT. Thank you to all Platform Nation readers. We’ll be holding more contests and giveaways, so stay tuned!
And if you’re curious, here’s the winning entry:
First and foremost I am thankful for the console, be it 360, PS3 or Wii. All year we fight about which one is better, but if you have any of them you are lucky.
The next thing I am thankful for is a good game! Yes a game with a good story, something that keeps you on the edge of your seat for days, be it single player or multiplayer.
Next is a gamer friends and community. Gone are the days of playing by yourself in a dark room. Gaming is becoming more and more social, so i am thankful that there are communities such as Gathering of Gamers, Platform Nation and L.A.G. out there bringing us together!
Last but not least, I am glad that I am a gamer.

I currently work as a social media maven and online community coordinator for video game clients. Basically, I do stuff that I'd be doing during my free time anyway. Whether it's coming up with concept ideas for E3 after parties or starting up the twitterisms, I'll be doing it. And when I'm off work, I can usually be found living vicariously through my consoles. I'll command zombie armies to commence Operation Z-Day. Or rock out like it's 1999 with plastic.
Besides video games, I have an obsessive love for food. I can cross utensils with the best of them as a remorseless, hungry omnivore set on consuming the tastiest damn thing on Earth. Is that a taco truck I see? You bet I'll be trying those tacos al pastor or maybe de lengua. Yeah, tongue. Suck it! Or a side of lightly seared foie gras with candied figs because it's buttery goodness. Those overstuffed geese died for something, and I'll honor their deaths by eating their fatty livers. From street food to Michelin-starred holy grails, I'll eat it. And take pictures as evidence. Because that's how I roll.
I absolutely love to geek out with communities of nerdgasmic doom. Just don't get too close to my awesomeness. I might melt your face. Fact.
