When Eidos/Square Enix announced a reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise, hands up anyone who thought they could have been talking about the addition of multiplayer.
Nothing official has been announced but here another piece of the puzzle:
Crystal Dynamics has issued an advertisement asking for a designer to lead “multiplayer vision and design effort for “one of the most prestigious AAA franchises in the industry.” Considering that Crystal Dynamics have not done much since they released Tomb Raider back in 2005, it would be a fairly safe assumption to take it that they are recruiting for someone to create some friends for Lara. The ad listing mentions multiplayer maps, which indicates competitive online, not just cooperative campaign support.
The owners of the Tomb Raider franchise have probably been looking jealously at Uncharted and its sequel and now want to reclaim the crown that was once theirs. If they succeed then, we as gamers can only benefit.
