Iron Man is one of my favorite comic book movies, second only to The Dark Knight. The story was able to remain faithful to Iron Man’s origin because the comic book origin fits perfectly in today’s world. It’s evident from the movie that Jon Favreau is a comic book fan and made a movie that both comic lovers and non-comic fans would love. Robert Downey Jr. played Tony Stark to perfection. He took Tony Stark’s playboy charm from the page and translated it brilliantly to the big screen. The movie was a perfect mix of action, comedy, and a character’s journey for redemption.
As you have probably guessed, I am extremely excited for Iron Man 2. I am counting the days till its May 7, 2009 release. A new trailer was just released to make the wait even harder.
As excited as I am for Iron Man 2, I am also worried. There is going to be a lot going on in the story. War Machine, Whiplash, Black Widow, Nick Fury, and even more are all being added and there is a chance that there will just be too much going on. Spider-Man 3 is a perfect example of throwing too much into a movie and hoping that something good comes out of it. I have faith that Jon Favreau will be able to make the most use out of all of these characters and to make this movie even better than the first. If Iron Man 2 surpasses its predecessor, the Thor, Captain America, and Avengers movies will have a lot of pressure on them.
