Assassin’s Creed II Giveaway

I’m going to kick off the Platform Nation 2010 Giveaway with my pick for 2009’s Game of the Year. That’s right, I’ll be giving away an Xbox 360 version of Assassin’s Creed II! In case you’re wondering why I have Ubisoft’s latest blockbuster as my favorite, you can read on me waxing poetic here (I know, shameless plug).

Simply leave a comment below telling me what you picked as the 2009 Game of the Year and why. And no, you don’t have to pick Assassin’s Creed II to be eligible; I definitely want a variety of answers to give me perspective. Make sure to leave a valid email address so I can contact you!

Before you start commenting, here are a few guidelines to keep in mind:

  • Must be a US resident. Sorry international folks, but shipping outside US borders costs a pretty penny.
  • Due to the mature rating of the title, you must be at least 17 years of age.
  • We’re giving away an Xbox 360 copy of the game. PlayStation 3 fans will have to sit tight for the next giveaway.
  • Giveaway ends January 20, 2010, at 12:00 PM PST. Any entries submitted after this deadline will not be eligible. Winner will be contacted via email and will have 48 hours to respond back. Failure to do so will force my hand into selecting another winner. So please check your inbox, and make sure you have Platform Nation on the “not spam” list.

Good luck! I’ll be looking forward to responses.

  • Can’t it be NA residents?

  • I picked Modern Warfare 2.

It’s MW1 prettied up with better guns. i enjoyed the campaign. and the multiplayer is going to be my go-to aspect for months and months to come.

They made what i thought was perfection even more perfect.

  • My 2009 Game of the Year was Dragon Age Origins because of the copius amounts of replay value as well as the fact that it’s a BioWare title.

  • kalof_naturel

I’ll pick call of duty modern warfar 2 (cod6) because it’s probably the best multiplayer game you can ever get. The new title/emblem system changed how multiplayer work (halo 3 tryed but…)

Also by adding a 3rd person to the game really give the game a second look. Epic game

  • artb013

My GOTY is probably Uncharted 2 for the story and some fun online play too.

  • Richard

It’s new, unique, fun, a large arsenal.

It goes on as an unnoticed game mostly. MW2 is overhyped, no difference. Borderlands though, it has truly done something fun and “newer” for games.

Weapons aresenal + Shooter + RPG and Co-Op = Win

  • My game of the year for 2009 would have to be Borderlands, It is the best game that I have played that does not have a gazillion glitches (MW2 & GoW2).

  • jrod

Uncharted 2 hands down, nothing this generation has offered an experience quite like Uncharted 2.

  • I have to say Borderlands. With the great Co-op and the fun and enjoyable quests to complete, its a no-brainer for me. I just beat the game actually and i’m going onto the 2nd play through. I cant wait to see what interesting things they do with the sequel! (not to mention the ridiculous amount of weapons in the game!)

  • CPTStewart

Definitely going to have to go with Modern Warfare 2. Once I let myself accept the ridiculous-ness of the campaign, I couldn’t put it down. I wish it was a little longer, but it sure as hell kept me glued to my TV the whole way through. Haven’t played a singleplayer that gripping since Bioshock.

Also, the multiplayer is a blast. Cant get enough of it.

A little nod goes out to Batman though. The combat in that game is amazing. So many animations and they all flow together so smoothly.

  • madgamer

shadow complex if xbla games count, if not it has to be Batman AA, that game blew me away, it had everything a game should have and more, plus free dlc!!! honarable mention like the above guys said would be borderlands!!

  • cyntori

My pick for GOTY is Halo 3 ODST because it brought back that Combat Evolved feel and had a great story and score. Not to mention the the Firefight mode beats Horde mode any day.

  • Gekkoton

Uncharted 2 is my 2009 GotY, I love adventure games and I happen to love the gunplay in this game. The multiplayer is keeping me playing everyday! 🙂

borderlands for the amount of play and degree of play

  • scottsgal

It’s got to be COD Modern Warfare -my teenagers play all the time online with their friends

  • Venura

    Uncharted II: Among thieves!
It brought the Gaming to another Level. New Stranded!

  • I’m going to have to go with Left 4 Dead 2.

Or if I can choose freeware games that have been out a while but just this year came out of beta, then I will choose SPELUNKY!!!

  • Alexandrea M

My game of the year was Dragon Age: Oblivion – was the first game in quite awhile I wanted to play all the way through!
Thank you for the giveaway, my husband hasn’t brought this home yet for some reason 🙂

  • REGUL80R

ok so im going to come at this from a different angle.

My 2009 GOTY would be the xbox live arcade game Trials HD. This game has such a basic idea and yet is so challenging that I get caught up in playing Inferno II that I don’t realize I only have 5 mins left of a 30 min time limit. It is also easy to pick up and play when i have people over and with the added DLC adds even more fun. Replay is also very high.

  • John Smith

My GOTY would have to be Unchartered 2, because of its killer graphics and its great game play across all modes of game play.

  • lee mitchell

wow no ones going for infamous?!
well obviously im voting for infamous, the epic blending of sandbox, third person shooters, comic book video games, the true feeling of being a complete bada** and interesting uses for the sixaxis, the lightning guiding sections

    • lee mitchell

oh and forgot to add,one of the biggest twists i ve seen this year

  • Hoshneer

Assassins Creed 2 without a doubt. I am putting it at the top games of all time. I just wish I had the money to buy not rent lol. The story line was amazing.

  • Darcy B
  • Sweet Lu

I am definitely going to have to say Modern Warfare 2, not only does it allow you to continue gaming online after completing the campaign; but it also challenges you and your friends to continue playing through special ops. Many gamers aren’t fan of the fps style of gameplay, but Activision and Infinity Ward, allowed others to enjoy this game by adding the third person option. Overall, this year (or should i say Sept-November) blessed us with lots of great games, hopefully 2010 brings the same. Happy Belated New Year Everyone! ….
ps MAG, BioShock 2, Halo Reach & Red Dead Redemption are def going to be my must-haves(well at least, my must try-out) this coming year. Take Care and God bless!

  • Shack

I agree with Assassin’s Creed being the best. The amount of action, all the bugs fixes, loss of repetition, the intriguing storyline, the bits of truth you find as you play, the money system and upgrades, new combat, new weapons, it honestly shocked me how much more this game had to offer. and not only is it a keeper. It’s one of the best to keep.
