Assassin’s Creed II Giveaway

I’m going to kick off the Platform Nation 2010 Giveaway with my pick for 2009′s Game of the Year. That’s right, I’ll be giving away an Xbox 360 version of Assassin’s Creed II! In case you’re wondering why I have Ubisoft’s latest blockbuster as my favorite, you can read on me waxing poetic here (I know, shameless plug).

Simply leave a comment below telling me what you picked as the 2009 Game of the Year and why. And no, you don’t have to pick Assassin’s Creed II to be eligible; I definitely want a variety of answers to give me perspective. Make sure to leave a valid email address so I can contact you!

Before you start commenting, here are a few guidelines to keep in mind:

  • Must be a US resident. Sorry international folks, but shipping outside US borders costs a pretty penny.
  • Due to the mature rating of the title, you must be at least 17 years of age.
  • We’re giving away an Xbox 360 copy of the game. PlayStation 3 fans will have to sit tight for the next giveaway.
  • Giveaway ends January 20, 2010, at 12:00 PM PST. Any entries submitted after this deadline will not be eligible. Winner will be contacted via email and will have 48 hours to respond back. Failure to do so will force my hand into selecting another winner. So please check your inbox, and make sure you have Platform Nation on the “not spam” list.

Good luck! I’ll be looking forward to responses.

Uncharted 2 is the game of the year. The contextual game play is the best yet!

My pick for game of the year was The saboteur only due to the fact that in my eyes it really took a big risk with the different approach to the open ended sandbox stealth action genre. the black and white contrast on the world when in Nazi controlled areas just is a very artistic and eye catching thing and once you beat the great story it had to offer you had literally over 3000 things to blow up just to collect more weapons and stuff to evade Nazi scum. and i mean what other game has you jumping off the freaking Eiffel tower for an achievement?

  • Davide

Rogue Warrior. It was all like “fuck” and I was all like “damnnnnnn”.

  • Carol

Talk about a consensus! I asked my sons and husband, and we all agreed it was Borderlands.

  • Dicky

Borderlands, because of the unique mix of shooter & RPG in a kick arse world that is a blast to experience in CO-OP with friends.
    Thanks!

  • Marilyn Wons

I will say Modern Warfare 2 because my grandsons love it. They have extra incentive to do their homework. After their homework they play the game.

Batman AA. It was made from scratch and did something previous attempts failed at, made a very fun comic book hero based game. I hate collectables in games but enjoyed that aspect as well. All around a great experience.

    Borderlands, I love shooter games!

I think that the GOTY was Batman because it just came flying out of the sky like a speeding ray of light. No one can say that they expected it to be what it was, few can even say that they expected it to be good, but it showed everybody up. ala GOTY

Crap I just realized I replied on your AC2 review, d’oh!

As for my GOTY, I have to go with Uncharted 2. I have been a 360 gamer almost exclusively until this year.

We got a PS3 fro Blu Ray (used from a pal) and I didn’t own a game for months for it. The first game I purchased was Uncharted and loved it, so I couldn’t wait for the sequel and I was not disappointed.

The graphics and storyline were just jaw dropping and the game play is fantastic. Add in multiplayer and co-op and just wow, what a steal for 60 bucks.

I am not a PS3 fanboy by any stretch but this game has me playing that shiny black box a hell of a lot more than I used to!

  • Warheart

I honestly can’t choose. There were so many good games this year such as RFG, Borderlands, MW2, AC2and on and on. I just wish I could play AC2, meanwhile I go 100% the first again.

My pick for Game of the Year is Killzone 2. It had everything I could of asked for in a FPS. Great graphics, excellent mechanics and best of all a very robust and rewarding multiplayer game mode. I’ve never been as addicted to an online game as I was KZ2. The integrated clan system was the best idea yet this gen for online gaming. With that said here’s to KZ2 for game of the year.

  • Kristie

My favorite game of 2009 was Modern Warfare 2 of course! They really listened to what the gamers wanted when they were creating this game! Call of duty 4 was so epic, this was such a highly anticipated release and when it came out at midnight, it felt like new years eve, if you were at gamestop ro whereever tryi
ng to buy it or pick your copy up!

  • agrovaine

    Borderlands,

Just for the new style it brought too games and the endless amount of weapons. Combining FPS with a RPG
makes it a unique game. It’s non-stop fun too.

  • ROORHighness

If not Assassins Creed 2, Boarderlands, because its an addictingly fun coop experience sitting split-screen with your buddy and spending countless hours arguing over who is better, personally i dont think i cant take enough time to explain how bad ass my hunter is..But not to mention the hundreds of different weapon pickups there are.

  • dkcecil

My game of the year? Bionic Commando…seriously. Not rearmed, although I love that one as well. I understand most folks didn’t like it but I loved it from start to finish. Once I got the hang of the swing mechanic I was sold. Definitely one of the most satisfying games I’ve played in quite some time.

  • DanteSparda504

My game of the year is Uncharted 2.

The game was simply as close to perfection as you can get. The story was written really well and the amazing voice actors really helped add to that, it was really entertaining. The game play was the pure definition of Action/Adventure, was so much fun and the graphics and environments were beautiful and really added to the adventure part of the game.

I wish the game was multiplatform so that everyone could experience it, since I know most people will never give it a chance because of what system it is on.

  • Andrew

I’m going to go with Borderlands, just for the variety of weapons you get to use.

  • http://www.themoderngamer.com Chris

I would have to say COD MW2/

Although it is a bit buggy, and we have enjoyed the lifestyle of glitching – it is still a great game. I especially love all of the new kill streaks and perks! This game has provided me with hours of entertainment, and hopefully hours more to come!

  • http://www.theuncannygamers.com/ Gemini Ace

    Resident Evil 5.

  • Jason Nickolay

My pick for 2009 Game of the year was Batman: Arkham Asylum. It was a good mix of villians and it kept the dark feeling to the game that is classic with Batman. I would of liked to see more villians, but it was a awesome start to what i hope is more games

Assassin’s Creed II is the best so far.

  • Trevkor

I’d have to say Batman: AA. Mainly because I couldn’t find too many flaws with it, it held my attention for quite a while, and was a game that actually made me feel like Batman.

  • David

I picked Borderlands because it was great to play with my friends.

  • Fred

To me the game of the year is Borderlands. Why do I say this. Well I love open world games, ,the graphics are amazing the hundreds of weapons you can choose in the game, and you will be playing this game for days to finish it.
