US Navy Says Gamers Are Smarter Than “Normal People”

“We have discovered that video game players perform 10 to 20 percent higher in terms of perceptual and cognitive ability than normal people that are non-game players,” said Ray Perez, a program officer at the ONR’s warfighter performance department in a Jan. 20 interview on Pentagon Web Radio’s audio webcast “Armed with Science: Research and Applications for the Modern Military.”

I am sending this to every single person that gets on my case about spending so much time playing games! A bit surprising to see this coming from the US Military, unless they’re trying to get all the gamers that recently purchased Modern Warfare 2 to sign on up, but a study was done and it’s true! For anymore direct information you can visit the Department of Defense.

Here’s hoping that they don’t try to use this to their advantage in an extreme way, but only time will tell.
