With Final Fantasy XIII just around the corner in the U.S., it’s no surprise that Square Enix is already turning its sights to the next game in the franchise. Today at VanaFest 2010, Square announced that the beta test for Final Fantasy XIV, the next MMO entry in the Final Fantasy series, will begin on March 11th for a select number of invitees (via Joystiq.)
Applicants threw their name into the pot back in December for a spot in this exclusive group. Those who don’t make the cut this go-around will still have other opportunities to get in on the action later on. The beta will start on the PC before expanding to the PS3 at a later time.
Final Fantasy doesn’t have a set release date yet, but it is expected to come out sometime this winter for the PC and PS3. You may be asking yourself “what about the 360?” Well, rumor has it that the game will also be coming to the Xbox 360. A Square Enix employee reportedly let that tidbit of info slip through his LinkedIn resume at the start of the month (via Destructoid.)
