In a story that sort of sounds like the plot to the 1995 movie Hackers, a Pennsylvania teen now faces felony charges for hacking into the Playstation website and crashing it for eleven days.
The seventeen year old Greater Latrobe Senior High School student took revenge on the site after being banned for cheating in a SOCOM U.S. Navy Seals tournament. The teen has plead guilty in juvenile court to unlawful use of a computer, criminal use of a computer, computer trespassing, and the distribution of a computer virus.
While the teen is an honors student, reports indicate that the method the boy used to infect Playstation severs wasn’t a difficult one, leaving the possibility of future attacks if Sony doesn’t make some adjustments.
While the teen faces sentencing later this year, his obvious course of action should be to find the hidden worm in the garbage file, take down The Plague, and HACK THE PLANET!
