Shigeru Miyamoto of Nintendo, the company that started its humble beginnings selling playing cards in the late 1800’s, told the AP that his ambitions are leaning towards education.
“That is maybe the area where I am devoting myself most”
Nintendo’s latest effort to broaden their audience is a goal to utilize Nintendo DS systems as educational aids in classrooms around the world. Japan already has plans to roll out the systems in junior high and elementary classrooms during the 2010-2011 school year and in other places such as museums and galleries, the technology is already in use.
While Japan seems eager to accept to the idea of a gaming system as a learning device, there aren’t any plans of yet to bring this notion stateside.
