Game Review: Connect The Dots Extreme
Release: Dec 28, 2009
Available Platforms: iPhone/iPod Touch
ESRB Rating: N/A
Connect The Dots Extreme brings the basic connect the dots fun from the pen and paper world and ports it to the iPod Touch and iPhone. poccaDot has created a cute little app that re-creates the look and feel of connecting the dots while updating it by giving you a score at the end of each puzzle.
The extreme portion of the game starts you out with a moving line. The line begins by heading towards the first dot. Once it gets to the first spot, you need to tap the next dot to change the line’s direction. Precision is key since you get a higher score the more precise you are. Once you make it to the last dot, the app scores you and gives you the option to input your name and play again. It’s not possible to fail, or at least not for me since I’m a very skilled at connecting the dots.
If you’re not extreme, or you want to let your youngster play, there is an option to turn off the Extreme mode. Doing this will eliminate the moving line and allow you to simply tap the dots in sequence. Precision is still needed, but no score is given. Other options include the ability to change the color and speed of the line in Extreme mode.
I was surprised to see are only 18 pictures in Connect The Dots Extreme. It is also a very easy game, which allows you to run through the 18 pictures in a very short amount of time. The scoring does add some longevity if you’re interested in beating your high score or competing against a friend by passing your device back and forth. Otherwise, this app will have a short life on your iPhone.
For a dollar, this app could be a great time waster if you have a young child you want to keep busy. For adults, this app is a little too simple and short to provide anything but a minor distraction.
