Majesco, the people behind the Cooking Mama franchise, have announced today that they’ll be teaming up with Martha Stewart to bring “sensibility” to gaming. My skepticism meter would be off the charts if it wasn’t for the fact that the Cooking Mama series has sold like, well, hotcakes. On top of that, the press release acknowledges that the market for gaming has expanded to a much more casual consumer. With that info in mind, it looks like this will lead to a digital Martha Stewart appearing on our DS and Wii sometime in the near future.
An understated section of the briefing also states that with the Martha Stewart brand, Majesco also obtains the rights to work with Emeril Legasse’s likeness and properties. No word yet on when we can expect to see any products of the arrangement, but with the “cooking game” genre already down to a science, I doubt Majesco will be wasting much time.
