Uncharted : A Blockbuster Fortune

Halo, Gears of War, Shadow of the Colossus, infamous; many games have been rumoured to have a movie adaptation coming soon. Now, another game has been shone in the spotlight, Sony’s own franchise, Uncharted. While a movie based around Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune has been in the rumours since 2009, more news has been swinging about recently, making it seem more inevitable.

IGN claims that The Los Angeles Times reported : “the studio has met with David O. Russell — the director of Three Kings, I Heart Huckabees, Flirting With Disaster, Spanking the Monkey (?), and the upcoming Mark Wahlberg-Christian Bale drama The Fighter — about helming the movie.”

And Russell isn’t the only one, Sony has supposedly wished for several directors for this game-film adaptation. Additionally, they reckon the film will be released Summer 2011, yes next year. It seems pretty unlikely to me, however I’d be very interested to see how a film would turn out. Uncharted, especially its sequel, screamed to me its blockbuster film resemblance, as it gave players the opportunity to get a feel of the protagonist of a Hollywood blockbuster. I’d hope that Drake’s Fortune isn’t tampered with too much, although I won’t hold my breath…
