Blizzard intend to add more social elements to Battle.net by announcing Facebook integration which gives gamers the ability to add their friends from Facebook to their Battle.net friends list, sounds cool right? After all Facebook is the largest social media platform out there, so now both your Battle.net and Facebook friends will know exactly how good or bad you are a Starcraft.
“We’re pleased to be working with Facebook to integrate their platform with Battle.net to enhance the social-entertainment experience for our players,” said Paul Sams, chief operating officer of Blizzard Entertainment. “This new functionality will make it easier than ever to connect with friends on Battle.net and play StarCraft II and future Blizzard Entertainment games together.”
However this is the only feature that has been mentioned at this point, so who knows what others will be added. This feature will be tested in the Starcraft II: Wings Of Liberty beta at some point in the future and will be available when the game is launched later this year. It will be interesting to see what features are available after its release e.g. Posting status updates to a wall after finishing a multiplayer match showing what your high scores are and any achievements or awards you have unlocked.
