Get Your Game On With Steam For Mac

It’s true! Steam is actually out for Mac now and with a substantial list of launch titles. Yesterday we told you that Valve’s Portal and Runic Games’ Torchlight would be the first two titles available, but it turns out that there are an additional 48 titles that were totally unforeseen.

This list of games includes some awesome old school adventure titles like Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, indie wares like Machinarium and World of Goo, and some good ol’ FPS like Team Fortress 2 and, if you prefer, some aging selections from the Call of Duty franchise. All of this mind blowingly good news aside, Half-Life and Left 4 Dead are not available just yet. Don’t fear, though, as “additional collections of Mac titles” will eventually (soon?) be released, each one “designed to highlight specific functions of Steam on Mac.” Cryptic and exciting, just the way you like it.

Just for verification’s sake, it turns out that yes indeed anything you purchased via Steam for Windows will also be available for you on Steam for Mac. Now here’s a complete list of the 50 launch titles for Steam on Mac:

Download now with this direct link to the DMG file. You should note that this is currently the only way to get the client if you weren’t in the beta (credits go to Joystiq) until Valve pushes out the download stuff to their website. Also, though you can’t purchase anything through the in-client store, you can buy games via the website and then download them perfectly fine with Steam (according to Shacknews).
