Epic Games + EA = Bulletstorm

Earlier last month, Bulletstorm was unveiled to the public. It is being created by People Can Fly, an Epic Games studio, and will be published by Electronic Arts Inc. This first-person shooter is scheduled for release in 2011.

So … what is Bulletstorm, exactly? It’s set in a futuristic confederation protected by an elite band of mercenaries: Dead Echo. When Dead Echo members Grayson Hunt and Ishi Sato uncover that they’ve been working for the wrong side, they’re betrayed by their commander. Exiled to the far reaches of the galaxy, Grayson and Ishi find themselves in an abandoned paradise, surrounded by hordes of mutants and flesh eating gangs. They have two goals: escape the planet alive, and exact vengeance against their former commander.

Gamers play the role of Grayson Hunt, equipped with over-the-top combat moves and an arsenal of large guns. Bulletstorm features the skillshot system, which rewards players for inciting mayhem in the most creative way possible. The greater the skillshot, the more points players collect to upgrade their character and unlock weapons.

Senior Vice President and General Manager of EA Partners, David DeMartini, had this to say regarding Bullestorm:

“We’re very excited to work with Epic Games and People Can Fly on this new project. The first time we laid eyes on Bulletstorm, we instantly knew this is going to be the next big hit from these two great studios delivering yet again an entirely new experience for shooter fans.”

Bulletstorm will be available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. It’s slated for a 2011 release.
