Insomniac Games, the developer behind Spyro The Dragon, Ratchet & Clank, and Resistance, all previously prominent on Sony consoles, has announced a deal with EA Partners today. In this deal, they will be producing a new IP that will be published by EA Partners on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Additionally, Insomniac will add more time to their development cycles to improve all projects.
Ted Price, CEO, states regarding their commitment to Sony
We know many of you are extremely loyal to the PlayStation family, and especially to Resistance and Ratchet & Clank. We are too. Our relationship with Sony Computer Entertainment is still very strong, and continues as we develop additional projects exclusively for PlayStation 3 – projects that will take full advantage of our additional development time.
It’s interesting to see the ever-increasing lack of exclusives for Sony. While the new IP isn’t a title previously exclusive to the company, the development studio has been exclusive. Recently, such titles as Final Fantasy XIII have gone multiplatform, at least in America.
And, shamefully, despite having owned all Sony consoles, I’ve never cracked open an Insomniac Games title.
