Platform Nation’s “A Simple Question” – 6/2/2010

This week sees the release of Alpha Protocol and, depending on your gaming preferences, will mean you won’t have a lot of free time on your hands. This game has already drawn comparisons to Mass Effect for its storytelling action gameplay, with RPG character development.  Which brings us to this week’s ASQ:

Do you prefer more story or more action in your action RPG?  For an appropriate gaming comparison, do you prefer Mass Effect, or Borderlands?

No game is worth a dime without good characters, and you can’t have good characters without good dialog to build those characters, but how much is too much?  Hopefully Alpha Protocol delivers on the hype it has generated, I always enjoy a good modern RPG; too few of those.’s response: “I prefer story because it’s fun to see what comes up next!”

My response to last week’s ASQ:What game’s weapon do you think is the most overpowered?”

Well, since my two candidates were taken (Farsight and BFG), I’ll say that the Infinite Ammo RPG in Deadly Premonition pretty much renders every other weapon useless. It kills in one to two shots on hard, has blast radius, and reloads fast enough to not worry about long down time

A Simple Question (ASQ) is a weekly segment for Platform Nation.  Each week, you’ll be posed a question.  These may be topical, funny, insightful, or just plain strange, and we want to hear from you.  Give a response and let the world know what you think.  There is no right or wrong answer here.  I will post my response on Friday in this post, and repost it next week. You’ll also see ChaCha’s response to the question each week.  If you have a suggestion for a question, hit me up on twitter @vttym.
