With very little fanfare, Hulu announced their new Hulu Plus service today. Hulu Plus is the service that has been rumored to be headed to the Xbox 360 and then the Playstation 3 recently. Now we find out that both rumors were correct, just the timing is a little off.
According to the site, Hulu Plus will cost you $9.99 a month and give you access to the current seasons of your favorite shows as well as past seasons of popular (and not so popular) shows. All this will be available for streaming in HD to your iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. Not only that, but selected internet-enabled TV’s and Blu-Ray players will be able to utilize the service.
Where this gets interesting is the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 support. According to Hulu, PS3 support is “coming soon”, with Xbox 360 support “coming early 2011”. I’m curious as to what the interface will be like, especially with the release of Move and Kinect looming large. Also interesting is the fact that the Nintendo Wii is not on the list of supported devices.
