Red Faction Game Coming to XBLA/PSN

Following in the footsteps of Capcom and their prologue plans for Dead Rising 2, CVG reports that THQ now plans on releasing a Xbox Live Arcade/PlayStation Network game for Red Faction: Armageddon, arriving three or four months before the game’s launch.

Danny Bilson, THQ’s VP of core games, says this Arcade title will “have content you can download that is TV show-related, it will build up to the new game and also we can use it to drive pre-orders.” While specific details are still sketchy, it can be inferred that the “TV show-related” aspect correlates with SyFy’s work on a Red Faction movie and possible a full-fledged television show.

Though I don’t particularly like the concept of paying for a demo – even if said demo bridges the series’ fiction – I’m curious as to how effective this form of marketing could become. Sadly, there’s no date set on this precursor title’s release, but Red Faction: Armageddon is slated to launch sometime in March 2011.
