Slim White 320 GB HDD PlayStation

Not enough memory? Not enough memory? Sony Japan has just announced that starting July 29th, PS3 Slims will now either come with a 160 GB HDD or a 320 GB HDD. The 160 GB HDD will go on sale for ¥29,980 (about $340/£225) and the 320GB system will go for ¥34,980 (about $400/265).

Additionally, Japan will also be seeing a “Classic White” PS3 Slim model on the same day. However, it’ll only have available 160 GB HDD and be the same price as the black models. AndriaSang points out that all of the 120 GB models will go for open pricing starting tomorrow. This means that retailers in Japan can sell the old models for whatever price they want in order to clear shelves for the new systems.

There’s no news on a Europe/US date yet, but expect it to be appearing soon. Personally, I think the white model looks very nice, but buying a PlayStation in any other color apart from black is like buying a Ferrari that’s not red, I just wouldn’t do it. As for 320 GB HDD, well, I only have 80 myself, I’d have no idea what to do with that much, but I’m sure there’s more than a few people who have been tantalized by these prospects, which is necessary considering it’s a potential competitor to Microsoft’s new Xbox 360 Slim.
