Bargain Borderlands On Its Way?

A slightly obscure retail listing from GameStop for a strategy guide is causing a buzz around the possibility of an upcoming Game Of The Year edition of Borderlands. 2K’s sprawling, co-op-friendly loot-em-up has gathered many a fan since its release in October last year and the potential surfacing of a new version of the game may just win it a few more followers.

Given that developers Gearbox have already cranked out three episodes of downloadable content – The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot, and The Secret Armory of General Knoxx – it would be reasonable to expect all this DLC goodness to be bundled onto the GOTY disc. But perhaps it could get even better, what with 2K owner Take-Two Interactive announcing back in March that a fourth downloadable expansion for Borderlands was in development. If this were also to be included on the new disc, we could be looking at the mother of all bargains if and when the new version ships. In announcing the fourth DLC installment, Take-Two president and CEO Ben Feder claimed: “our approach to digital content for Borderlands gives us a road map for other titles going forward”. Take-Two are responsible for many of today’s most popular titles, including the behemoth that is Red Dead Redemption, so the future is looking rather rosy for fans of Borderlands and many others besides.
