1vs100 On Xbox Live Will Not Be Returning

1 vs 100
Microsoft announced today that after two successful seasons “1 vs 100,” their flagship game on the Xbox LIVE Primetime platform, will not be returning. “1 vs 100” was a new idea, a sort of MMO game show that took place at specific times of the week. It gathered over 114,000 players, all playing at the same time, through out its beta period, breaking the Guinness world record for the most contestants in a game show.

Dave McCarthy, General Manager of Microsoft Game Studios said, “When we started on this journey, we knew we were creating an entirely new genre of entertainment that would be a continually evolving concept. We’re very proud of the ‘1 vs 100’ team and their accomplishments, and are excited to apply what we’ve learned to future programming.”

The “1 vs 100” team is using what they’ve learn from “1 vs 100” in future projects for Xbox LIVE. This may mean that more online game shows will be coming to Xbox LIVE in the future. The original trailers for Kinect featured a family playing an online game show together against another family. Perhaps this is what we can expect in the future.

  • Beat me to the story! 🙂

I’m seriously upset that this isn’t returning. I really enjoyed it, although I never got into the mob. Somebody needs to start a campaign to get this back.

  • I enjoyed it and am sad it won’t be returning. I played almost every night during the beta period. It was a good game to get the family together and play. When the official season started I didn’t have time to play but it was still good.

  • I’m going to miss it too. My friends and I used to gather around our xboxes and play together during nearly every live show. We loved playing together and trrying to one up each other. It was a lot fun.

  • Meh. Was boring. Also support for this sucked in the UK.

  • I enjoyed the game as it was not only free but enjoyable

  • i enjoyed it and it was a luagh when my wife and I had a go at it but the UK version always seemed half baked, without the live announcer for season 2 for example.

  • Had fun during beta, though admkittedly didn’t play it once it went into the seasons. Still was a fun game…
