MapleStory Europe Welcomes You Back This Summer!

MapleStory originally launched in South Korea in April 2003 and quickly went on to become one of the most successful online games of all time, with nearly 100 million registered accounts across the world. If you’re totally new to MapleStory here’s a bit of background to whet your appetite. The game begins with creating your character by selecting your job, outfit and even hairstyle before embarking on your mission. Players then travel across the colourful land defeating monsters and collecting “Meso” tokens, which can be exchanged for a number of items acquired from a variety of quests. Game players can form guilds, join party quests and chat with friends. They can even create a family and get married, but only with serious planning preparations of course!

MapleStory Europe launched in May 2007 and counts more than 2 million registered players, offering gamers in Europe the chance to play MapleStory in five different languages – English, German, Spanish, French and Dutch.

MapleStory Europe, the popular free-to-play MMORPG, today announces the arrival of Aran; a brand new character in the game. To accompany the resurrection of this hero a series of exciting gaming events and updates will be flooding screens creating excitement throughout Europe!

The story unfolds as Aran – the first risen hero – was one of the five protectors of MapleStory when Black Mage ruled. Using their unique powers the heroes vowed to protect citizens but found this an impossible task to uphold. They subsequently sent their people away to another island so that their battle with Black Mage could commence. Having spent hundreds of years trapped in ice, Aran – now an average man with no memory or powers – has risen. Let the game begin!

In order to further entice players, Arans have been made a warrior type class who use polearms as their main weapon. To make the Aran character even more unique the game has introduced a game mechanic that no other class gets to use; The Combo System, which allows players to increase their combo counter attack by continuously hitting monsters. This means that as a player’s combo counter attack increases, so does their damage and the amount they can inflict – savage!

To celebrate the rise of Aran, MapleStory Europe has got plenty of fun things to do in the game throughout July and August. There are a number of events taking place to ensure all players can take part in the celebrations, including ‘The Return of Aran’ gives players ‘Everyday Event’, ‘Aran the Combo Master’ and the ‘Aran Level Up Event’. These events are the perfect opportunity for users to earn in game items and receive great rewards for their participation!

Finally the ‘Welcome Back Event’ looks to regenerate interest into MapleStory players. The message is clear; ‘the time of hibernation is over, Maplers’. The event encourages all existing players to return to the game and is valid for anyone with an existing account who has not logged on in the past three months. They will be rewarded with a ring that can be found in their inventory and can receive an extra 80% EXP when playing in a party. For all players that are still active they shall also receive a ring and a 1.5 drop rate when playing in a party with a returning member. So what are you waiting for? It’s time to get back online and enjoy the summer with both your old and new Maple friends, plus Aran awaits you!
