Rock Band To Debut Latin Superstar Juanes

Rock Band will be expanding its impressive variety of music next week when 6 songs from Latin music superstar Juanes become available for download.  If you’re not familiar with someone who Billboard has labeled Latin Music’s “Star of the Decade” you’ve probably been playing too much Rock Band.  He’s sold 12 million albums worldwide, has 17 Grammy awards over just 4 albums, and believes in trying to create social change through music.  This will be the first selection of Spanish-language songs available to Rock Band musicians.

The guy is kind of a big deal.  Just not around the gaming world; at least not yet.  Along with the 6 tracks available for download next week, Juanes’ #1 hit, “Me Enamora” will be part of Rock Band 3’s playlist, so if you haven’t heard his music before, you will soon.

I have a hard enough time putting out a convincing British accent for some of the songs, so a Spanish-language track will be both hilarious and sad at the same time.  Still, I’m looking forward to expanding the selection I have.  People in other countries karaoke English language songs all the time, I’m game for doing a return favor.

The details are as follows (from press release):

Available on Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation 3 system (July 27):

•    Juanes – “A Dios le Pido”
•    Juanes – “Fíjate Bien”
•    Juanes – “Gotas de Agua Dulce”
•    Juanes – “La Camisa Negra”
•    Juanes – “Mala Gente”
•    Juanes – “Yerbatero”

(All tracks are original master recordings)
(These tracks will be available in Europe on PlayStation 3 system July 28)

These tracks will be available for purchase as “Juanes Pack01” as well as individual tracks, on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 system, and as individual tracks only on Wii.

Price:             $1.99 USD, £.99 UK, €1.49 EU (160 Microsoft Points) per track
$9.99, £4.99 UK, €7.99 EU (800 Microsoft Points) for Juanes Pack 01
$2.00 USD (200 Wii Points™) per track

What do you think? Are Spanish-language tracks something you felt was missing from Rock Band?  Are you interested in downloading superstar songs from other countries? Should Rock Band punish singers for not saying words correctly when singing?
