There’s a lot of emphasis on creation with LittleBigPlanet 2, in contrast to the single player, which has undeservingly been kept in the dark since its reveal. However, Media Molecule’s latest trailer redeems that by boasting about the astounding 50 levels they’ve created just for us and they’re looking pretty damn good. Once again, the team appear to have mastered their own creation tools and came up with some genuinely insane ideas, it really highlights just how genius the creators behind it are and I’m extremely anticipating playing through their levels.
Within the trailer we see that Sackboy has some help in the form of computer-controlled sackbots, which aid him with the adventure, similar to that of Olimar & Pikmin. Additionally, there seems to be new types of platforms and full control transport devices among other things. All welcome concepts, especially being able to use more tools, such as grappling hooks, ‘creatinators’ and power gloves. I won’t be surprised if even more get shown soon, LittleBigPlanet 2 is looking limitless, it’s absolutely mental, and I love it.
Personally, I played the story mode of the original LittleBigPlanet more than anything else the game offered; all of the levels were brilliantly designed and full of collectables. Don’t get me wrong, some of the user created content is amazing, it’s just that after beating The Collector and the world opens up, I was too comfortable to move anywhere else. Media Molecule’s levels just had this distinctive charm and loads of marvellous ideas and the sequel’s looking no different. Roll on November!
