Welcome to Platform Nation’s weekly feature where we inform you, the reader, on all the game releases you should be looking out for.
Each week as well as bringing you news about which games are due to hit the shelves in the seven days ahead, the Platform Nation writer will choose their pick of the week.
My pick for this week is:
Monday Night Combat (X360): Monday Night Combat for Xbox LIVE Arcade is a class-based, third-person shooter… and the most popular lethal sport of the future! It blends intense combat, finishing moves, and gameshow-like challenges and rewards to produce an action experience unlike any other. Why fight for “honor” or “duty” when you can fight for the real American dream: cash, fame and endorsements?.
My View: It’s probably the quietest week of 2010 for releases, and personally I was simply going to use the time to chip away at the ever growing backlog of games that I have yet to finish (start in some cases), but after checking out a few of the developer videos I’m now intrigued and may even be tempted to pick this up when it releases this Wednesday. It’s trying to enter into a very congested market and probably would normally disappear into obscurity, but since it’s a slow week for releases coupled with the fact that it’s part of the Summer of Arcade games I give Monday Night Combat a fighting chance of being successful.
The full rundown. As well as my pick of the week the following games are due for release:
Xbox 360: Madden NFL 11, Monday Night Combat,
PS3: Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Madden NFL 11
Wii: Enjoy Your Massage!, Madden NFL 11
DS: Galactic Taz BallPC: Victoria 2, Academagia: The Making of Mages, Xsyon, Battle vs. Chess
PSP: Madden NFL 11
