Platform Nation’s “A Simple Question” – 8/18/10

I don’t know if you’ve watched TV in the last 2 weeks, but if you have, you might have found out about some game that is coming out on September 14th.  This game is also calling itself the most anticipated game of 2010.  It begged the question:

Do you consider Halo: Reach to be 2010’s most anticipated game?

There’s no doubt that this game will be huge for Xbox and Bungie.  But most anticipated is a big claim.  What do you think? Was or is there a game coming this year that is moreso?’s response: “Bioshock 2 is voted the most anticipated Xbox 360 game of 2010.”  — Don’t know who was voting, but that’s as valid a claim as any.  This was the second of the series, unlike Halo’s 4th entry, and regardless of how the game was reviewed, the question is ANTICIPATED.

A Simple Question (ASQ) is a weekly segment for Platform Nation.  Each week, you’ll be posed a question.   Give a response and let the world know what you think, there is no right or wrong answer here.  I will post my response on Friday. If you have a suggestion for a question, hit me up on twitter @vttym.

I would say its Halo, Black Ops, or Gran Turismo 5. Back whenever that voting was done it would be easy to say Bioshock 2 was the most anticpated game of 2010 when so little was known about the other games. All you have to do is look at the pre-order and sales numbers. Now sales are obviously not a measure of how good a game is. But its the best at telling you what games people want to play. I would say the claims of Halo being the most anticipated game are the most valid of any game.

I would say “Yes”. Especially after playing the Beta. I know I can’t wait.

  • I don’t know if I can say Halo: Reach is the most anticipated game this year. Bioshock, regardless of how it was reviewed, had a huge following going into 2, and was very heavily anticipated. Alan Wake was 6 years in the making and, while not as marketed as either of the other two, had quite the buildup. Call of Duty Black Ops is probably MORE anticipated now, especially after all the issues that went down at Infinity Ward.

Halo: Reach will be huge, but I see at least 2 other games this year with more anticipation.

  • up until Ganescom this week i would have said Fallout 3 New Vegas was the most anticipated (not for me as i’ve yet to finish fallout 3) but impression articles from Gamescom suggest F3:NV is just like an addon for F3.

Dead Rising 2 has to be the most anticipated game for me.

halo Reach has been leaked a week which will mean it gets even more column inches that it would have but still outside of Halo fanboys this game will not be the hit Microsoft want it to be.

Enslaved is now getting more heat everywhere I look but despite saying Dead Rising 2 only a couple of sentences ago I’ve just remembered about Little Big Planet 2, surely this is the winner

  • just on the note of Alan Wake. I upgraded my PC in 2005 for Alan Wake, so you could say I waited in Anticipation for 5 years for that game to come out
