On the latest episode of GameTrailers TV, Valve’s Chet Faliszek announced a new piece of DLC for both Left 4 Dead games called “The Sacrifice.”
As the title suggests, this is the long-awaited DLC in which one of the survivors dies. If you’ve played “The Passing,” then you already know who doesn’t make it, but don’t let that dissuade you from playing as that character in “The Sacrifice.” Chet explains that while one death is canon to the Left 4 Dead fiction, players will be able to choose who makes the ultimate sacrifice when playing the DLC. If you only have the sequel, then things gets even sweeter since the L4D campaign “No Mercy” will also be included in the DLC pack.
As if that wasn’t enough to satisfy your zombie-hate, Valve will be releasing a 150-page digital comic in four parts, leading up to the release of “The Sacrifice.” The comic will detail the canonical events of the DLC, as well explore some of the back story for each of the survivors from the first game. Chet also says this is not the end of DLC for L4D.
Poor survivors, they just can’t catch a break.
PC Gamer also reports that “The Sacrifice” will be available October 5, 2010. It will be free for the PC and Mac but will cost 560 Microsoft Points ($7) on the Xbox 360.
